Hey everybody!
This weekend my best friend and I spent the weekend in Surf City, North Carolina. Surf City and Topsail have been my favorite beach in North Carolina for years now. I love the chill atmosphere and I am convinced the water looks the most beautiful here.

Our plan for Saturday was to surf the day away but the weather changed those plans. I made us a delicious breakfast of homemade oatmeal and instead of surfing we went driving around the island and took some fun pictures and found some nice surf shops and restaurants. Then we came back home and caught up on some homework for the following week.
Sunday morning was a perfect day. The sun was bright and the high was around 60 degrees. We packed up our wetsuits and surfed the afternoon away. Once we came back, we headed back to UNCW and ended our day eating some delicious food from a local restaurant in Wilmington.
Now onto my must-visit places:
1: Surf City Surf School
If you or anyone you know is interested in taking surfing lessons this is the place to go. The experience I had taking surf lessons here was amazing. The staff is so welcoming, kind, and intelligent and the lessons are affordable. The atmosphere of their shop is just how you would imagine any Hawaiian surf shop to be. And they have a delicious restaurant called Shaka Taco! What could be better than surfing and tacos?
2: Bert’s Surf Shop
This is one of those classic surf shops you just have to stop into. From their vintage vibes to all the surf gear they have to offer, this is a great, little surf shop to stop into on your way home from the beach.
3: Island Delights:
Island Delights is a 50’s style café with a super fun ambiance and tasty diner food. They are also known for their ice cream. If you visit, be sure to hang around to see all their vintage 50’s decor.
4: Fractured Prune:
Now if you have a sweet tooth for donuts, the Fractured Prune is the place to be. They are known for their unique flavors and the donuts are made fresh every morning.
5: The Daily Grind Coffee:
This is a nice coffee shop with a variety of drink options including smoothies, milkshakes, and floats. They also serve pastries, donuts, and ice cream. They have a separate seating area perfect for getting some work done.
6: Sugar Island Bakery:
Okay, I promise, this is the last sweet shop I will add on this list ;) but I saved the best one for last. This little bakery is filled to the brim with any type of dessert you could dream of. All of their sweets are made from scratch every day with natural ingredients.
7: Surf City Pier:
This one is pretty self-explanatory, but the pier is always a great place to fish and watch surfers down below.
8: The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center:
Although I have only been to the rescue center once, it was such a great experience. The staff members are very knowledgeable and career deeply for the turtles. If you are interested in Sea Turtles and how to help them this is a must-visit. Just a note: in the summer months the center is very popular so the lines will be long.
Surf City/Topsail is such a great beach to visit if you are into great food and a calm beach town. Although Topsail does not have many touristy attractions, what more do you need than a nice beach, a surfboard, and some great food? ;)
